The Guru

All my life I have met many Gurus (at school, college, university), but one Guru who actually brought a lot of change; deep impact in me and explained things about life is the “Spiritual” Guru. You might ask what is the difference between other Gurus and Spiritual Guru? There is a world of difference in how they actually impacted my life. To me, all the Gurus impart knowledge but Spiritual Guru imparts more than just knowledge. I have learnt lot of knowledge from teachers in academics. Though my other Gurus taught the knowledge, Spiritual Guru had given me the highest knowledge, not provided by other Gurus, which is to learn to know about myself. For this very reason I’ve had very different experience with Spiritual Guru.
The Spiritual Guru does more than just impart the knowledge – provide experiences to show the power of Divine, act as a “true” friend to show my short comings, guide through my life in every step of my life, show the purpose of my life, take me closer to the goal  of my life.  And all that happened after meeting my Spiritual Guru, which has been the life changing event for me. I’ve started looking at every event in my life differently. The way I talk, think and act have changed. How many Gurus do all these to every one of us? Only a Spiritual Guru who is clairvoyant and clearly understand about life & Divine can guide in the right direction.
I’m very fortunate to get such a Guru, who takes time and be with me in every step of my life. Well it is said that, Teachers come searching for students, which happened in the case of Lahari Maha Saya. In his case, his Guru Babaji appeared before him, but not the other way. So in my case it is more than fortunate (which could be due to the Karma I had, I suppose). After meeting my Spiritual Guru, the respect to other Gurus has increased a lot (not that I haven’t had respect; but this time understanding the pains they took to impart knowledge to me). Over all, it is a wonderful change in my life to meet a Spiritual Guru. What made the impact of Spiritual Guru on me more evident is that, I have not met any other Gurus other than my academic Gurus. So the changes being brought in by Spiritual Guru is clearly evident in front of me.
You might ask, all these are good but how do I accept someone else as a Guru? Someone else pointing out our short comings? Someone else, who is suggesting what we need to do? Believe me; I have gone through all these questions within myself too. But think for a second, someone is taking this much interest and trying to help you in a true manner, then how much of interest I should be on myself? Doesn’t that an enough reason to prove the higher knowledge this person has, which exactly happened to me. It is a mixture of feeling when someone is telling about me – surprise that they know about me, embarrassed that I was so explicit etc. But all these won’t be there if you follow the instructions of Guru is what I have experienced. Once that attitude comes in, I have started seeing many experiences and things started to move my way. I also had to let go of my egos – I know everything; I need importance, i can only do things perfectly etc., to see the real me. And all the credit for bringing these changes goes to the Spiritual Guru I’ve.

I’m very thankful to Divine and off course The Guru, who has introduced me to Divine through experiences.  That is why I choose the topic for this blog as “The Guru”.

    Dear Venu,

What a wonderful blog. This by itself shows how much our Guru has made an impact on you. It is not easy to write in one page how much our Guru has changed our lives and how important it is to have a Guru in our lives. It is a long list but you have beautifully conveyed it in one page.

How well said. Who else can do this other than a Guru.
