I’ve really enjoyed Eden Garden volunteer work. This specific garden always surprises me with the amount of produce it has in a very little space. This time I was involved in Plucot’s picking and compost related works. Even though the work was tiring a bit , at the end, it gave lot of satisfaction to see the amount of fruits picked & compost made. I can’t get that satisfaction by doing other day-to-day activities. Thank you to Anu and Priya for organizing this event.

I enjoyed the gardening work. This time there were many volunteers at the garden. One of the tasks we worked on was to help a tree grow in the right direction. There were no specific instructions on what needs to be done. The team had identified the root cause of the tree growing sideward and worked on it. We also worked on harvesting fruits. We received some free tips on compost from an expert who was going to teach her students on compost. I enjoyed the company of our friends.

I enjoyed working in the organic farm. I started with trimming the lavender plant, I enjoyed the fragrance. Then I was helping with making compost. I was surprised to know that even composting involves so much of work.

I had good fun with this activity. I personally prefer organic produce (don’t like the prices though), so I was happy to help people who were trying to get organic produce to poor people. Pam was the leader at the site and she quickly got us to our tasks. I, Sanjai and Greg were asked to lift up the branches of a Persimmon tree (small one). We did this by adding supports to the branches and clearing the bushes around the tree. Lots of physical work but was good fun. While on break, chatting with Greg about his trips to India was also fun. Pam was a good leader, youthful and energetic. She was keeping track of everybody, cheering their work while doing loads of work herself. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. And traveling with Sanjai is a pleasure, always 1st class. He has extra bottles of water and then nutritious cookies just when you need it. I am looking forward to this activity in future.

It was a wonderful sunny day; the climate was perfect to work outdoors. I have been to this place before when plants were very small, now they are grown well. My task was to pluck fruits from Plucot tree, which is a combination of plum and apricot. This is first time I have heard about that fruit. I enjoyed doing garden work with our group in Nature. Thanks for giving me this opportunity.
