Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) is an organization that prepare kits to the kids at schools. These kits are up for sale. The volunteering here is to help RAFT prepare those kits.
It was great. RAFT is an organization designed to help the school teachers with supplies needed for the kids at a cheap cost. Most of the items were less than $10 and were really amazing kits. I got an opportunity to pack one such fun kit, putting price on the bag pack and on certificate holders. Though they were simple activity, it helped the project manager of RAFT immensely to complete some of this work and check them to the inventory. In fact, lot of us wanted to buy many of the kits that were sold there and Lavonne the project manager/coordinator at RAFT was kind enough to let us do that since we were volunteering there. She also provided a detailed tour of the facility, since this was our first time volunteering at RAFT. I want every one of us to take an opportunity to go this volunteer work if they get an opportunity and bring their childhood days back. Thanks to Anu for adding this RAFT volunteering as a part of D2D’s volunteering experience. I very much enjoyed this activity. It reminded me of my childhood days when I saw the different science projects and brought in lot of joy when I played with them, especially the one where I was asked to hold a chain and drop a ring from the top of the chain. To everyone’s surprise the ring instead of slipping down by the chain, was caught by the chain at the bottom. It felt like a magic trick and brought smiles in everyone’s face.
This is my first time volunteering at RAFT – Resource Area for Teaching. It was very rewarding. One of the best volunteer activities so far. Need to organize more of these. I liked the creativity and the nature of the activity. Thanks for identifying the RAFT volunteer activity.
Today’s volunteer activity was very interesting enjoyed it a lot. Raft carries lot of stuff for teachers for teaching and doing projects. This is first time I saw heard about this kind of organization. They took us on a tour. I would like to participate in this kind of activities again.
I enjoyed today’s volunteer activity very much. This is first time we are volunteering in RAFT. RAFT volunteer coordinator gave us detailed tour of the RAFT. It was very interesting. RAFT uses simple day to day items to create interesting science projects and helps to reduce landfill. I would like participate in this activity again. Thanks for team members and divine for providing this opportunity.
