Volunteering at SHFB

Second Harvest Food Bank is a trusted leader dedicated to ending local hunger in many counties across United States. They distribute nutritious food to low income people in need through direct service programs and by collaborating with other non-profit agencies. [1]

D2D volunteers with SHFB as part of providing food for those in need. In this volunteering, we sorted the good tomatoes from the bad ones and packed them for distribution. Check the photos and comments from the participants below.

We started the day with meditation and prayer to be able do the volunteer work successfully. Then went to SHFB. It was a new center in San Jose. We sorted tomatoes and packed them for distribution. I had a good workout by carrying 25pounds boxes between sorting area and packing area. 🙂
I enjoyed doing the activity and happy to be able serve others. Thanks to Guru and Anu for organizing this event.

This was my first time with SHFB at their new location in N. First street. I enjoyed the food sorting. I am very delighted to see so much love and energy there amongst all volunteers. I am grateful to D2D for giving me the opportunity. Thanks to Vijay for showing us the way and for Anu to taking us on the path.
